During their first secondment of the Intelli-Ingest project, doctoral candidates Xiao Bai (DC4), Xinyang Huang (DC5) and Jiaqi Li (DC6) visited the IDUN team at Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and the SATCC Surgical Research Unit at Odense University Hospital (OUH), Denmark, led by Professor Anastasios Koulaouzidis.
During their secondment period in May 2026, the doctoral candidates spent time at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), where they were involved in practical hands-on activities and collaborative discussions with both the local research team and fellow students participating in the project. This experience encouraged the identification of common challenges and shared methodological approaches across the different research areas addressed within the consortium. The interaction proved highly productive, fostering successful collaboration, synergy, and interdisciplinary integration among the participants.
Following the activities at DTU, the doctoral candidates continued their placement at OUH within the SATCC research environment, where they gained broad exposure to clinical endoscopy activities. They had the opportunity to observe both conventional and capsule endoscopy procedures and to engage closely with the multidisciplinary clinical and research team. This experience provided valuable insight into the clinical potential of capsule endoscopy while also highlighting the technical and translational challenges that still need to be addressed for wider clinical implementation.
