During their first secondment of the Intelli-Ingest project, doctoral candidates Ayrah Andrea Marterior (DC11), Laurin Xaver Koppenwallner (DC12), and Saurabh B. Mishra (DC13) visited the SATCC Surgical Research Unit at Odense University Hospital (OUH), Denmark, led by Professor Anastasios Koulaouzidis.
During their month-long placement in March 2026, the doctoral candidates were exposed to a broad range of clinical endoscopy activities. This included observing both conventional and capsule endoscopy procedures and engaging with the multidisciplinary research team at SATCC. The secondment provided valuable insight into the clinical potential of capsule endoscopy, while also highlighting the technical and translational challenges that remain for wider clinical implementation.
The doctoral candidates also presented their research to the group led by Assistant Professor Ali Sahafi at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). This enabled a productive technical exchange on emerging design strategies for next-generation capsule endoscopy devices.
